Commissioners Tighten Regulations, Public falls Silent

Editors note: The original headline, ‘Hot issue may have calmed in Costilla‘ makes little to no sense. What issue has calmed or has reached resolution? Notice they make mention of the light attendance of the public meetings, suggesting the public might be ok with their new land use regulation proposals.  This is not the first time this publication ran a story featuring only the county’s side of the story.

An issue that drew standing-room-only crowds to Costilla County commissioner meetings last fall may have quietly found a path to resolution Tuesday.

Commissioners approved a pair of procedures designed to clarify the use of recreational vehicles and enforcement on those homeowners lacking wastewater treatment systems.

They tabled a third measure, pending a formal hearing before the county’s planning commission since it would require amending the county’s land-use code.
